We are looking for a Rolling Stock Digital Transformation & Automation Intern. This position will be based at our Sacramento area branch located in California.

As our Digital Transformation & Automation Intern, you will experience a start-up atmosphere within a mature organization that will give you broad insights into our business and how we drive digital transformation with innovative solutions. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to engage in business process analysis, development and operation of digital solutions and help design trainings courses for user enablement. A little bit about us!

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail - including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

How does Digital Transformation & Automation play into the big picture?

As an incubator for digital transformation our team is focused on developing innovative digital solutions and supporting the workforce transformation through training. Depending on your skills and interests, you will be involved in conceptual work, implementation of PoCs and the full development cycle of process automations (RPA), data pipelines (ETL), applications (Mendix), and more.

What your day- to- day will look like:

  • Identify opportunities for (process) improvements and carrying out process analysis
  • Develop digital solutions (plan, design, build and test)
  • Support Citizen Developer community engagement and stakeholder management
  • Support rollouts and communication campaigns
  • Special assignments (research, PoCs, ...)

      Who Should Apply?

      • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or equivalent, ideally with a business background from an accredited college or university, with at least 1-2 years completed to date.
      • Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August
      • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
      • Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
      • You have basic IT knowledge and are confident in using MS Windows and Office 365
      • You are a strong bi-lingual communicator - not only do you speak and write English well, but you are also proficient in automation tools (e. g. through classic programming language or low/no-code in UiPath, Alteryx, KNIME or equivalent)
      • You are an analytical, critical, and solution-oriented thinker who can express your thoughts clearly and target group-oriented
      • Must reside or go to school near internship location (Sacramento, CA)

        You'll benefit from:

        The hourly pay range for this position is $22 - $26 per hour, based off your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
